One foster fail led to all of this.
Dana kept fostering cats and kept failing to give them back. So she built a place where the whole neighborhood could fall in love too.

Dana spent a decade as a barista and her nights as a cat foster. The pattern was always the same: a shy shelter cat would bloom in her living room, get adopted by a friend of a friend, and leave a Dana-shaped dent in the couch.
The café idea came from a simple observation. People do not fall in love with a photo on a shelter website. They fall in love over an hour, with a latte going cold, while a tabby decides their lap is acceptable.
Today the lounge holds twelve residents at a time, every one of them adoptable through our shelter partners. The coffee bar pays the rent. The cats do everything else.
Two rooms, one roof, zero compromise.

The café side is a real coffee bar: single-origin espresso, fresh pastries, fast wifi.

The lounge side is the cats' house. Heated perches, hiding spots, and staff who speak fluent cat.

Health code and happiness both intact: food never enters the lounge, cats never enter the kitchen.

2017
Founder Dana Whitfield fosters her eleventh cat and runs out of spare rooms, friends with spare rooms, and excuses.
2019
Purr and Pour opens on SE Division with eight rescue cats, one espresso machine, and a waitlist by week two.
2021
Adoption number 100: a shy senior named Beansprout who now sleeps on someone's pillow in Beaverton.
2024
The lounge doubles in size. The cats vote unanimously for more window perches.
